Principal's Message
Dear Tarzana Family,
It is my pleasure and honor to introduce myself as principal of Tarzana Elementary School. I am extremely proud and excited to have been selected to join this amazing community and support our students and their families.
The fall of 2022 was the start of my 26th year in education. My career began as an elementary teacher. In addition to my classroom teaching, I served as a program specialist, coordinator, assistant principal (special education) and principal, but I consider my most important job to be that of a child advocate. And equally important is my role as your greatest supporter, first as a listener, leading with purpose, protecting your time, supporting teacher learning, and helping you maintain a healthy balance.
I view education as a lifelong process, and I will continue to learn much about our amazing school community this year and in the years to come. Most importantly, I bring a belief that the students are at the center of all school-related decisions. I am excited to bring my experience, my openness to learn, and my child-centered approach to support our students. Because the relationships between families and the school are vital to the success of our students. As the old African Proverb states, “It takes a village to raise a child.” I look forward to the collaboration and support we will be able to give each other.
Once again, I am so thankful to have the opportunity to bring all that I have experienced and learned with me to your wonderful community. I look forward to getting to know you and your children.
I look forward to meeting you soon.
Warm Regards,
Renee Cofield
